Our three day ride of 1426 miles began on a cool cloudy Monday morning and we had overcast skies until we drove up out of the valley where we met clear and warm weather. We were headed to Yreka CA where we would take Highway 3 west.
On CA Highway 3 we stopped for a break at Trinity Lake. It was now quite hot in the high 80's.
The rest of the picture here are taken on Highway 3 and 299 that took us to Arcada CA. Where we spent the night.
The ride along this river on Highway 299 was a great ride with some nice curves and very little traffic.
I have the honor of being the lead bike so this is the view in my rear view mirror for three days. Dwayne behind me, David next and Gary took up the rear because he was more cautious on the curves, but did a great job catching up on the straightaways.
The sweeping roads through the Redwoods are great.
Here we are celebrating our journey on Highway 1, making it through some very tight curves which everyone enjoyed.
Stopped for lunch at Giant Burger in Fort Bragg, good burgers and the owners Herm and Jenny's, that's right "Herm", don't see that name very often.
Lot's of mist along the coast of CA and in the 60's for temperature. We left Highway 1 before Bodega Bay and headed to Santa Rosa, where we stopped at a BMW dealing for David. Now the temperature began to climb and finally reached a high of about 91 degrees. Then we climbed up and dropped down the the coast again for cooler weather.
Wednesday morning started sunny and bright and we followed Highway 101 all the way to Lincoln City, OR. This was a great ride through more Redwoods and along the coast.
Here I caught Dwayne on his Valkrie 1500 cruising up 101.
Lunch at Bandon Dunes, they serve some good oysters.
